⚡ Bolt: [performance improvement] optimize readFileSync memory allocations#41
Conversation
…rectly This change replaces `.toString()` calls on buffers returned by `readFileSync` with a direct `utf8` encoding argument in `packages/expo-brownfield/plugin/src/common/filesystem.ts`. This avoids intermediate memory allocation of Buffer objects and immediately parses the string natively via V8. 💡 What: Replaced
.toString()calls on buffers returned byreadFileSyncwith a directutf8encoding argument inpackages/expo-brownfield/plugin/src/common/filesystem.ts.🎯 Why: Calling
.toString()on aBuffercreates an intermediateBufferobject before allocating the string. By passing'utf8'directly toreadFileSync, Node.js returns a string directly via the native C++ binding, bypassing the intermediate Buffer allocation. This reduces garbage collection overhead.📊 Impact: Minor performance improvement when reading templates and patches from disk, by avoiding unnecessary intermediate
Bufferallocations.🔬 Measurement: Verify by checking that functionality remains identical while reducing heap memory allocations related to buffers. Tests have been run to confirm no functional changes.
